Background : Sou. Lalita Raosaheb Shivasaran is resident of village Mendhegiri and she is a house wife. She is living with her husband and 2 children. Lalita’s family is not having any farm land, they used to go as a wage worker in other farm holders. The socio-economic condition of the family is not good.
The Process : In Mendhegiri village, RAMAI SHG was established in the year 2017 with 11 members with monthly savings of Rs. 100/member. RAMAI SHG is regular in monthly savings, monthly meetings, record keeping and internal lending. SHG has undergone capacity building training and accounts trainings under the Project. Lalita wanted to start some income generating activity to support her family economically. Lalita learned “Bangle Business” from her grandmother and decided to start at her village. Bust she was not having sufficient amount to purchase the bangles and start the business. She submitted ‘Loan’ application to her SHG for internal loan, and her SHG sanctioned her loan. She contributed some amount from her savings and started bangle business.
Outcome : Lalita’s husband supports her in her bangles business by supporting her in household work. Also to take her to the places for weekly Bazar. Her monthly income from bangle business is nearly about Rs.2000/- to 2500/-.
Background : Sou. Dhanashree Sidram Kumbhar is a resident of village Devnal and she is a house wife. She is living with her husband, 3 daughters and mother-in-law. Her husband barrowed a ‘Pick-Up Van’ by bank loan, to carry out local transport. Dhanashree is talkative, and well maintaining her family within the available resources.
The Process : During our visit to Devnal village for SHG formation, our field supervisor met with Sou. Dhanashree Sidram Kumbhar, and explained the Projects aims and objectives. Dhanashree was impressed with the aims and objectives and decided to establish a new SHG. She consulted with like- minded women members and established ‘RENUKA SHG’ on 30-01-2018 involving 12 members. They started with monthly savings of Rs. 200/- per member. Dhanashree became the President of RENUKA SHG supported by Sou. Savita Bharat Katkar as Secretary. They opened their SHG bank account in District Co-operative Bank, Jath Branch on 08-02-3018.
All the members of the RENUKA SHG, used to have regular meetings, account keeping and maintaining documents in systematic way. All the members of the RENUKA SHG undergone Skills Building, Capacity Building and Accounts and Book Keeping Trainings at village Devnal under the JIVIKA Project.
Dhanashree was always thinking to do some income generating activity so as to support her family. She took basic survey of the activity to be carried out and the need of the community. She and her husband finally decided to start ‘Cloth Stores’ in their village, as there is no such store in Devnal and in neighboring villages. She submitted the loan application to RENUKA SHG for economical support. The members approved her a loan. Along with this loan amount she contributed from her family savings and started the ‘Dhanalaxm Cloth Stores’ in her home. Along with cloth stores she is engaged in goat rearing also.
Outcome : Dhanashree’s husband helps her in bringing good quality clothes, transportation etc.. Also they used to set their store in nearby villages on ‘Pick Up Van’ during weekly Bazar.
Within a period of 3 months her sales are increased, and she reached sales volume of Rs.10,000/- to Rs.12,000/- per month, with net earnings up to Rs.3,000/- to 3,500/- per month. Now her yearly income increased by more than double.
With good demand from the community, she wants to expand her stores in terms of varieties, quality and cloth guarantee. She is dreaming for – she should have biggest cloth store in her cluster.
Her will power, determination and hard work is the best example for other members of SHGs. This will really impact other women to come forward and under take some micro-enterprises. Dhanashree expressed her thanks to SAVE Foundations initiative, for educating her and making her self- sustainable and she is an example for others women to follow.
Background : Nimbevva Basappa Ajur is a housewife and member of ‘Savala Women SHG’ from Khojanwadi, is a poor hardworking women residing with her husband, who is a landless labour. She has two sons, elder son Sagar studying in 12th standard and younger in 9th standard. Nimbevva and her husband trying hard to complete their children education.
The Process : To support her family and children education, Nimbevva started Bangles business in her home. She took a loan of Rs. 5000/- from SHG and put some contribution from her savings. During festival seasons and weekly bazars, she does good business and earns good profits. She is earning Rs. 2000-3000 per month, which supported her in children education and family.
Outcome : She is doing repayment’s regularly and wants to expand her business.
